technology bringing knowledge and hope

God's Golden Acre (GGA), Cato Ridge, near Durban

In an area rife with AIDS orphans, GGA operates a cluster foster care system - so that children remain within their extended families as far as possible. Rosetta Huenis, the centre's outreach worker is very keen to get DVD lessons in operation there as soon as possible. There is a tremendous need for basic educational messages in the poor, rural area where the centre is based. In particular, HIV and AIDS have such stigma attached to them that no-one even likes to mention the words. Basic messages on avoiding HIV and living with the virus and its effects are urgently needed. We have provided a container classroom for this area, situated in the compound of the local community centre, which we hope will soon be up and running.
