education saves lives - it's simple

Ambassadors of Hope

Robinah Lubwama (or "Mama Robinah" as she's affectionately known) and her team run an organisation that cares for orphaned or abandoned children. They are also very active in the community, working with approximately 6,000 children in the local slum areas.

When we first started building up partnerships in Uganda in July 2006 we left Mama Robinah with one portable DVD player and a set of English discs (quite a few of the children speak some English, but, in order to really reach out into the community, lessons in Luganda are needed). In May 2007 we provided a second portable DVD player and have recently been able to send out a package of 7 new lessons in Luganda - here is Robinah's response to receiving the discs:

"Just letting you know that the discs arrived early this week .Thanks alot for all the efforts put in .I hope I told you that we now have a projector .It hasnt started working because there is something small missing but soon it will . The children's club is growing really big we now have five classes for them so.We are thankfull that we have alot of intresting and educative information to give out to them and they are already learning a lot" .

We don't yet have any photos of the children using the lessons yet, but we'll be sure to share them as soon as we do!
