Uganda

We have been working in UGANDA since July 2006. Our partners are church groups in Soroti and Gulu; Global Care, a children's charity that operates throughout the country;

Ambassadors of Hope, another children's charity operating in the Kampala area; and UWESO (Uganda Women's Effort to Save Orphans) a countrywide project. We also soon hope to be working with various community groups in the Mbale area of Uganda.

Throughout Uganda we've decided to go for the relatively low cost option of supplying portable DVD players to our partner groups rather than container classrooms. For the cost of supplying one container classroom we can equip many partners with multiple portable DVD players - and this is becoming increasingly the equipment of choice, especially considering how light and easy they are to take out to remote areas.

The British High Commission in Kampala very kindly granted us 35 portable DVD players through their Small Grants Scheme, which has got us off to a great start!
